Artist Biography
Fritz Paulsen was born in Schwerin on May 31, 1838 and a pupil of the Prussian Dusseldorf Academy, and, in Munich, of Piloty. He was a professor in Berlin and most known for painting the "Porträt Eduard von Simson" (1880 Oil on wood, 74 x 60.5 cm) which hangs in the National Galerie Berlin. Paulsen has painted several portraits of author Julius Stinde, an oil from 1884 is located in the University Library of the Free University of Berlin.
